You do not need a prescription or referral to see your physical therapist. You can directly come to us. In many cases, you will save hundreds of dollars by coming to see a physical therapist first because of Direct Access. We will, however, work with your medical provider if you do have one. You can find more information on Direct Access here: https://www.rvaphysicaltherapy.com/direct-access/
You can access all of our patient forms online here and fill them out before you arrive for your first visit. This will help eliminate any unnecessary delays on your first visit. Please call us if you have any questions, and we will be happy to assist you.
At RVA PT, we accept all major insurances for their in-network benefits. As a courtesy, we bill our patients only for their in-network financial responsibility. Our associates at RVA PT will help clarify any insurance questions you may have.
The number of visits approved by your insurance company will depend on the type of plan you have. Once we verify your benefits with them, we will inform you of the number of visits you are allowed, and your physical therapist will discuss this in detail with you and formulate a treatment plan accordingly.
As a courtesy to our patients, we do not hold them liable for any amount over what any participating provider would. In short, we bill our patients for the same amount as an in-network provider would. You are not responsible for the difference.
Do not worry if you do not have insurance or your insurance provider does not cover your physical therapy visits. We will still work with you and accept payments directly from you. An initial visit and evaluation will be billed at $120 and subsequent visits would be $120 per visit.
Our physical therapists at RVA PT are all licensed to practice in the state of Virginia.
Since we are a private owned practice, we are not part of any corporation. We believe that we can provide you with the highest quality of care available and do it in a cost-effective manner. You will work closely and directly with your physical therapist, and your case will be managed by the same physical therapist who is familiar with your case, from the beginning to the end of your experience with us.
You will need to bring your insurance card, a photo ID and your co-pay. Any co-pay is due at the time of your visit. We accept all major credit cards.
Please make sure to wear loose, comfortable clothing that will allow for easy access to any joints or injuries that might need to be examined. For example, if you have knee problems, it is best to wear shorts. Wear clean clothes and refrain from wearing sweaty or dirty clothing, as these might hinder with the efficacy of certain treatments like dry needling. It is also important to shower and wear clean pool clothes and bring a towel when you arrive for aquatic therapy.
Every patient’s injury or condition is unique, and our treatment plan is tailored to specific needs. On an average, however, the initial visit takes about an hour. Subsequent visits are patient specific and will take about 45 minutes.
Every time they provide services, doctors, dentists, and other medical professionals will submit claims to patients’ insurance companies to receive payment. In turn, insurance companies will send out EOBs to patients to inform them of the claims submitted, how much is being covered by the insurance company, and how much the patient owes.
You can find more information on explanation of beneifts at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Explanation_of_benefits. You can also call your insurance company for a detailed review of your EOB when you receive it in the mail.
Some patients will need to continue with home exercises. Some may choose to continue with a gym exercise program. Others will complete their rehabilitation and return to normal daily activities. Therefore, it is very important that you communicate your goals to us, so we can develop a customized program that suits your needs and have to get back to your lifestyle, better, faster.
Even if you don’t have a prescription from your doctor, call one of our physical therapy clinics or use this form to book your appointment today. Learn more about direct access here.
